Turkish drone strike on mosque in Makhmour Refugee Camp injures three

On the evening of Saturday 7 October, a Turkish airstrike a mosque inside the Makhmour Refugee Camp, 60km south east of Erbil in Iraqi Kurdistan. 60 year-old, Zeinab Ibrahem, and two boys under the age of 18, were injured by the strike as well as damage to the mosque caused.

The Turkish Armed Forces have regularly bombarded Makhmour Refugee Camp over the years which is claimed to be a PKK stronghold. On 29 August 2022, father of six, Abu Zayd Abdullah was killed when a drone targeted his house inside the camp.
